The Technician Admin page lets you add or manage technicians—users who respond to tickets. To create a technician you only need their first and last name, email address and a role. You can assign groups, departments, and buildings either during creation or later from their respective management pages.
TDT‑Helpdesk includes three default roles: SiteAdmin, Technician, and PortalUser. SiteAdmins have full privileges, while Technicians can view and respond to tickets but cannot change administrative settings.
The Role Admin page allows you to create custom roles. You can grant full access to a section (such as Admin or User) or expand a section to select individual privileges. Custom roles give you granular control over what technicians can see and do.
In the Advanced section of role creation you can specify which other roles the new role is allowed to manage. If your SIS integration brings student personally identifiable information (PII) into TDT‑Helpdesk, you may need to restrict which technicians can view this data.
To limit data visibility for certain roles, configure User → People Visibility and People Details settings
